Description
This Wolf Cross was modeled after Viking amulet found in Fossi, Hrunamannahreppi in Iceland. It combines pagan and Christian symbolism into one piece of decoration. It has similarities both with Mjölnir (Thor´s hammer) and a cross, symbol of Christianity.
One theory suggests that the wearer of the original Wolf Cross wanted to assure himself of both heavenly powers at the time. It could have also been that the wearer simply wore it to be able to trade with both pagan and Christian customers.
Whatever the case might have been, the Wolf Cross is a magnificent testimony to the changes of faith and culture that happened during the 10th century.
