Asian Swords

Japanese katanas used by samurai and Chinese dao and jian are excellent swords from the East.

Katana is medium-lenght, slightly curved, Japanese sword with long handle to accomodate both hands and is exellent sword design for cutting. It was made famous by the samurai during Japan’s medieval age.

Jian is Chinese one-handed, double-edged, straight sword-type that has been in use from 7th century BCE. Jian is considered to be a gentlemans weapon in Chinese folklore.

Dao is a single-edged Chinese saber or broadsword, primarily used for slashing and chopping. The earliest dao-forms date back to the bronze age.
