Description
Charlemagne (742-814) was the first emperor of Western Europe since the fall of Roman Empire and he made Christianity the unifying religion of whole Europe. Charlemagne inherited the Frankish kingdom and expanded it through wars with the Lombards, Saxons, Frisians, Slavs, Moors and Danish. When Charlemagne died the Empire covered all of Western Europe and later Italy, France and Germany were divided and formed from this Empire. Even still today German and France hold Charlemagne as the founder of their states.
