Description
This Key Ring Holder is based on an early medieval age finding of a “Pitney Brooch” found in the churchyard at Pitney, England. It depicts a fierce battle between two creatures. A snake-like creature is biting a neck of a four-legged animal.
The Pitney Brooch is a fine and rare example of an object combining Viking Scandinavian and Anglo-Saxon decoration styles. The vast amount of details and animal ribbons shows clear inspiration from the latest style of Viking art, known as the Urnes Style. However the beading in the brooch is an Anglo-Saxon feature.
