Description

In Roman times, omega brooches, also called horseshoe brooches, were used to close a cloak or even to fasten chain mail. The omega fibula is by far one of the longest and most widespread types of brooch and was already in use 2000 years ago among the Romans and Germanic tribes.

The needle of the forged omega fibula is beautifully curved.  The needle fits snugly to the body and grips the heavy garment without sticking out. The fibula has elegantly shaped ends, which were typical for Roman-Germanic brooches in the 1st century AD. The brooch itself is hand forged and it has a black matt surface.
