In 1618 a conflict broke out in the heart of Europe, and in time it spread to a pan-European conflict, the 30 year war. This book looks at the period from the perspective of modern military science, and joins it in a long line of conflicts together with our modern day wars in Sierra Leon, Somalia and Afghanistan.
