Description

A gambeson worthy of the outlaw that wore it: Robin of Locksley. This heavy two-piece garment consists of a corduroy undershirt with padded and studded sleeves and a quilted sleeveless gambeson. Worn on top of each other the whole upper body is protected. The padded gambeson can be worn alone, or on top of chain mail. Gambesons have been used in Europe from the 900s onward and the use continued all through the Middle Ages to the end of the Renaissance. At its most simple form the gambeson was merely a slightly thicker shirt under chainmail to prevent abrasions. At the other end of the spectrum there is a multilayered, stiff, thick and expensive armor.
The type we offer can be used in historical re-enactments or as padding in light battles. Both pieces are chocolate brown corduroy.

Available in sizes S/M, L/XL and XXL.
